Austin is a major center for the high tech industry. Companies like Dell and IBM are based out of Austin, while other high-tech companies like Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Google, AMD, eBay/PayPal, and Samsung Group all have operations in Austin.
Entertainment in Austin
There is never a dull moment in Austin. The city plays host to a vast selection of theaters and museums like the Blanton Museum of Art, the Austin Museum of Art, and The Bob Bullock State Museum. Austin also has an active nightlife; you can always find something to do whether it´s seeing Austin Improv theatre, Ballet Austin or visiting the historical 6th street for a fun night on the town. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin is famous for SXSW (South by Southwest), an internationally know music, film and game festival scheduled in March. In October, the famous Austin City Limits music festival bring in musicians and fans from around the world.

Several farmers markets are set up each week in and around the Austin area. Farmers markets offer fresh, locally grown produce, meat, and other local food vendors.
Parks in Austin Texas
Another thing Austin is known for is its parks. The city of Austin has beautiful parks with breathtaking views. Zilker Park, "Austin's most loved park" is a 351 acre park with a variety of recreational activities including Zilker Botanical Gardens and Zilker Hillside Theatre. In 1999 Austin received the Excellence in Aquatics award from The Austin Parks & Recreation Department and a Gold Medal from the National Recreation and Park Association in 2004.

June 2010, CNNMoney.com ranked Austin Among America´s Most Recession-Proof Cities "The "Keep Austin Weird" campaign must have worked, because the Texas capital is among the country´s oddball cities that bucked the downturn. In fact, Texas cities starred on the new list of recession-proof metro areas, with six of 21 spots, according to MetroMonitor, a quarterly report released by Brookings Institute´s Metropolitan Policy Program."
July 2010, Kiplinger ranked Austin Ranked #1 Best City for the Next Decade "Everything may be bigger in Texas, but Austin´s genius is nurturing the power of small.
